About Us

Our History

City Music started out as a small retail store opened in Gardner, MA in 2003 by Marc Rines and Nancy Karuzis. It now consists of two retail stores and a thriving online business owned and operated by father and son team, Marc and Stephen Rines.

Marc is a long-time musician who has been composing and performing since he was 18. He has extensive experience running and maintaining music programs and product lines. Because of the original store’s success, he opened a second location in Leominster, MA in 2006 with a hands-on approach and deep understanding of musicians’ needs.

Stephen Rines is a graduate of UMASS Amherst with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. Prior to college, he created an online music gear business that helped establish City Music’s strong digital presence, including City Music Annex on eBay, Reverb, and Amazon. He was also nominated in the Best of eBay competition in 2017.

We are dedicated to supporting your passion and elevating your musical creativity by offering high-quality products at competitive prices.

To achieve this, we negotiate with vendors for the best pricing and continually monitor market trends. We are always searching for new and exciting gear to enhance your musical experience.

Supporting Our Local Community

At our local stores, our lesson studios host many of the area’s most talented and credentialed performing musicians, teaching a wide variety of instruments and styles.

Community is important to us, and we are grateful for the ongoing support of our Gardner and Leominster communities. In return, we have hosted FutureStars showcases allowing teens to perform at local venues, with proceeds helping donate over $25,000 to school music programs.

We are proud that many of the young musicians who first performed on our FutureStars stage have gone on to become professional performers.
