Violin, viola, cello group session for children ages 9 – 13 years: Young string players can experience the joy of playing as a group with lively fiddle tunes from Myra MacLeod’s repertoire of New England folk music. Playing folk and dance tunes on violin, viola and cello as a group is a fun and approachable way of practicing fingering, bowing and rhythm skills. Kids will be inspired by Myra’s gentle passion for New England’s unique folk music styles. The week will culminate in a live performance for family and friends on Friday evening. City Fiddlers is for beginner to intermediate players having at least six months of lesson experience (or less with recommendation by their teacher).
Weekly sessions will meet daily at City Music Leominster.
Monday – Friday from 11 am – 1 pm, plus finale concert Friday evening.

Session Fee: $200 per week. Sign up for 1 or 2 weeks. Each session will feature new music.
Registration fee: $25. Participants will receive a free City Fiddlers t-shirt.

Instructor: Myra MacLeod has been a performer in folk and contra dance bands for more than 30 years, most recently with Blackstone Cuil and the Worcester Folk Orchestra. In addition to teaching at City Music and the Performing Arts School of Worcester, she has directed fiddle groups and workshops like the “FiddleKids of Worcester”, “FiddleFolks” and the “Spud Blossom Special” in PEI, Canada. Myra loves getting groups of students together to share the joy of making music, and “motivating all ages to play for a lifetime”.
